Celtic today announced through the Daily Record that they do not want controversial linesman Andy Davis to officiate in the Tennents Scottish cup final at the end of this month.
The story from the Daily Record comes as somewhat disturbing, after Hearts were fined £5,000 for bringing the game into disrepute, after questioning the officials decision to award Rangers a last minute penalty back in March, which Rangers won the tie, and Hearts saw midfielder Saulius Mikolunas recieve 2 red cards and a 6 game ban.
What’s the difference from what Hearts did to what Celtic are doing? In my view, not a lot. Just because it is not happening on the park, there is certainly NO justification in Celtics actions.
Celtics excuse for the comments were, "The Scottish Cup final is an extremely important and high-profile fixture that does not need more pressure heaped upon it"
"Indeed you would have to consider whether this is fair to Mr. Davis himself."
HAVERS!
The Celtic spokesman added: "It's an extraordinary decision and that's not a criticism of Mr. Davis,"
Aye right. If Hearts cannot get away with it, neither should Celtic.
Hearts have been punished in the most severe manner for undermining the official, so should Celtic should these statements be true.
If Celtic get away with these comments, then this will just go to show what a mockery the SFA have made of the entire game. I will, as will all Hearts fans and officials alike be watching this one unfold.
