THE future of Tynecastle Stadium appears to have been secured after a U-turn by the Hearts board at today’s EGM.

Prospective owner Vladimir Romanov had called the meeting to instruct the directors to halt the sale of the ground to Cala Homes. However it was widely expected the decisive vote would not be taken until the end of this month after a delay which was not forseen.

Romanov had been requested to supply written assurances of his plans for the future of the club but the board insisted on further clarification. However to the amazement of the 500 shareholders gathered inside the Gorgie Suite today it was announced that such assurances had been made and the vote would go ahead. It is now a foregone conclusion that the Cala deal will be cancelled, Hearts remaining at Tynecastle for the foreseeable future.future

Under the first agreement with Romanov, Chris Robinson was obliged to vote with the Baltic banker whose shareholding would then stand at 29.9 per cent.

Romanov said: "I am very glad to be involved with Hearts and will be doing everything I possibly can to bring a good future to the club."
