Why Does Craig Not Just GO FOR IT!?

These past few weeks, Hearts fans alike have been 'treated' to a brand of
football that is bordering on 'pish'. I have come to the conclusion that
what Hearts and Craig Levein need to do is to just 'go for it!' What have
Hearts got to lose? In any reasonable persons mind, Hearts haven't got a
snowballs hope in hell of catching Rangers at the moment.
Craig Levein has been dubbed one of the best young managers in the
business. And rightly so. 3 weeks short of his 40th birthday, he has made
Hearts the third force in Scottish football despite all the financial
cutbacks and political issues regarding the stadium etc.

But (there's always a but!) Recently the Gorgie faithful have been
subject to increasingly dire displays on the pitch. Cup games apart, Hearts
have only managed to score from open play in two of the opening EIGHT games
so far this season. A comfortable 3-0 win over Kilmarnock was followed by
a very uninspiring 2-0 defeat from Motherwell. A 0-0 draw against Rangers
planted a few seeds of optimism in some minds, but as usual THAT was
proceeded by another defeat, this time a 1-0 reversal at East End Park.
Saturday past, Hearts welcomed new boys Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Paul
Hartley scored a great lob after an Inverness mistake. That was the ONLY
highlight of a game in which Hearts played ONE striker (remember this was a
home match!) FIVE midfielders (against ICT's 3) in which were nowhere to be
seen most of the game. This game had rated in my all-time worst games of
all time list. Some might argue that its the three points that were
important, but in my view Hearts crowds are going to dwindle with such
performances.
My point is? Well, Why does Craig Levein not just 'GO FOR IT?' What have
Hearts got to loose? There's no danger in the near future we are going to be
anywhere near the old firm, so I reckon a 4-3-3 formation is worth the
gamble. Craig Levein has insisted recently on a 3-5-2 formation, which i
think really just chokes the game in midfield. (especially when 2 of the
midfielders are defensive players) Stick 3 strikers (when they are fit)
upfront and see how we get on. Albeit, we might get hammered, but negative
tactics are NOT going to win many games, especially as the rest of the SPL
have caught up on Hearts considerably this season.
