Cards - Players To Stump Up For Indiscipline

Following the record £50,000 fine imposed on the Tynecastle club this week as punishment for their poor disciplinary record last season and, allied to the fact they go into today's match against Rangers minus not one but two suspended captains, Michael Stewart and Marius Zaliukas, manager Csaba Laszlo says avoidable bookings will no longer be tolerated.

"It is very important this season that the players understand the situation," he said, adding that any future fines will be covered by internal levies paid by the guilty parties.

"Now if there is indiscipline, you will pay a lot of money to the club. The club is the one doing everything for you and you can't do nothing for the club. It has to be a collaboration.

"It is different if someone gets a red card saving the team from a goal and we win the game - then it will be handled differently. You can't say that every yellow card is x sum of money and every red card is x sum of money - you have to handle each situation. For example, the red card for Michael Stewart against Dundee United must be handled differently from the red card last season for Janos Balogh when he tried to save a goal and missed

" Silly tackles are one area of frustration but the fed-up Hearts manager has also added ungentlemanly conduct and dissent to his hit list. "For example, Suso (Santana] against Dundee United. You know the rules; you must not run to the referee to talk to him about why he did not give the foul and you must not show the imaginary card.

"You know the rules and this is not your job, so if for this they get a yellow card then they must be punished. I think the players at the moment accept that.

"Two of Marius Zaliukas' red cards last season could have been avoided. He must not get himself into the situation to get the red card, yYou must not kick the opponent for nothing. This is what can be avoided and this is what has cost us a lot of money and it's my intention that it has to be changed."
