A light breeze from the west meant that it was coat weather as we settled down for the battle of wits between old Hearts heads Stephen Pressley and Jim Jefferies. And it was first blood to Pressley but his team did leave it late to secure the 4-3 win that sees the Bairns move into the next round of the Co-Operative Cup. There was bookings (eight), a sending off, a penalty and seven goals. And they say there is no entertainment in football these days. There was no time to worry about the weather as the game was absorbing as it ebbed and flowed from end to end. It was left to substitute Mark Stewart to grab the dramatic injury-time winner for Falkirk to end 10-man Hearts spirited comeback in tonight's Co-operative Insurance Cup third-round tie at the Falkirk Stadium. Referee Brian Winter did like the sound of his whistle and he did find lots of chances to show he knew how to use it much to the distaste of the fans as it interfered with the game. Stewart, on early for the injured Tam McManus, and Carl Finnigan had given the Bairns the lead at half-time over a Hearts side who had right-back Craig Thomson sent off by referee Winter in the 26th minute. Thomson was ordered off for kicking out at Finnigan after the pair clashed on the touchline. In a breathtaking second-half fightback, Kevin Kyle reduced the deficit from the penalty spot in the 66th minute and Suso Santana levelled before Kyle headed the visitors into the lead. But with 10 minutes remaining Ryan Flynn scored for the Irn-Bru First Division side and with seconds of the three added minutes remaining, Stewart popped up in the six-yard box to flick in the winner.
