Foulks lets rip

Former Jambos Chairman George Foulks last night reacted angrily to Vladimir Romanov's comments that he hasn't been able to find a suitable candidate in his search for a Scottish Board Member.

Foulks resigned in protest last summer at the treatment of Chief Executive Phil Anderton, who was sacked by the Lithuanian banker.

Foulks told the Times: "I find it an insult to the fanbase and the business community in Scotland that Mr Romanov claims he doesn't see a Scottish candidate for the boardroom".

"He has been talking about this ever since I left the board more than one and a half years ago. Since then he has had meetings with fans' representatives who have said they would like one of their number on the board, which I think is a very good idea. To have three Lithuanians on the board of a Scottish club does not give the right image".

Earlier this week Romanov had treated us to yet more of words of wisdom, proclaiming "Cynics should not be defeated, but disregarded. Fighting with them does not make sense".

The Hearts owner had also enraged the SFA this season by claiming that referees were corrupt, but reminded us that it's actually all par for the course.

"It's natural that there was some hostility," He said. "I think it was hard for some people to get used to different opinion, to face the defeat, and to accept the fact that there is now a stronger force. Still they have not made any conclusions."
