Jim Jefferies was pleased as Punch with his side's display in the 5-0 win over Aberdeen. Rudi Skacel scored twice, with David Templeton, Stephen Elliott and Arvydas Novikovas also on target as Hearts romped to a fifth straight win. They have now notched up 13 times without loss in the process. Hearts, who were playing for the first time since November 20 having twice been thwarted by the weather, are full of confidence. But Jefferies knows Hearts' run could be ended at any time, with Motherwell next up on Tuesday and a busy time over festive period ahead. He said: "We've got a great bunch. There's a togetherness, a spirit, confidence is flying - we've won eight of our last nine. (But) we're keeping our feet on the ground. Somewhere down the line you're going to get a setback, that's the nature of football. While it's going along just now the players are showing terrific will to go out there and keep the run going. The job's easy - I've picked the same side. But we're going into a heavy period and you know the (playing) pool's got to be strong in the next two or three weeks when the games come thick and fast." Jefferies was wary of the Dons before kick-off with the prospect of players wanting to impress Craig Brown, their new manager, and was delighted with his side's display. Jefferies said: "I thought they would be up for it and try and impress today, but we made the players aware of that and they were outstanding. They did all the right things to not let Aberdeen get going at all and I think at the end of the day we could have had one or two more." |
