Hearts will turn their interest to Plymouth Argyle striker Steven MacLean after Racing Genk warned they will do the Jambos no favours as they try and sign Adam Nemec.
Relations between the Jam Tarts and the Belgian outfit are at a low after Genk reported Hearts to UEFA for not paying the full instalments for injury plagued winger. With this and mind, and since a couple of German teams are weighing up a move for the Slovak internationalist, Hearts gaffer Csaba Laszlo may be forced to look elsewhere.
Former Rangers hitman MacLean, who has netted an impressive 53 times in 128 games, would be the ideal option, the Edinburgh born lad looking to have another crack in the SPL.
Speaking of former Rangers players, one person who won't be coming to Tynecastle is Stephen Hughes. The midfielder who has spent the last two seasona at Motherwell, has priced himself out of a move to Hearts. Apparently he's being touted for a move back to Ibrox where he is seen as cover for injury hit Kevin Thompson and now that Birmingham have signed Barry Ferguson.
Another player uncertain to be wearing the beautiful Maroon next season is Denes Rosa. The Hungarian, who was at Hibs last term, knows Laszlo personally and was hoping to have a spell at Tynecaslte. Buit his former boss has turned his back on him as he is still said to be upset that Rosa picked Easter Road over Tynecaslte last season.
Meanwhile Vladimir Romanov has stoked the fires that exist between Hearts and Celtic by claiming the only way the Glasgow club will progress against Dinamo Moscow is if the Glasgow side get favours from the refs.
The Russian-born multi millionaire, himself no stranger to controversy when it comes to officials, has stated that he sees the Parkhead outfit as a "shallow club which is steadily degrading" and believes an embarrassing and humiliating defeat like the one they suffered against Artmedia a few seasons ago is on the cards for them.
Hearts hate Celtic. Celtic hate Hearts. These comments will mean encounters between the two SPL challenging sides next term are going to be interesting!
