Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1 Heart Of Midlothian 1
John Robertson returned to Pittodrie to face his old team Inverness Caledonian Thistle to see his 10-man side scramble a 1-1 draw.
Juanjo nearly got the home side off to the perfect start within two minutes of the game. A long Grant Munro throw was flicked on by Ross Tokely, and the tricky Spaniard leaped to head inches wide of the target.
The action swung to the other end and in the 12th minute Ramon Pereira nearly latched on to a Robbie Neilson through ball, but Tokely was there to knock it wide and out for a corner.
Moments later, Caley should have been 1-0 up. A long ball from Graham Bayne gave Juanjo a one-on-one opportunity against Craig Gordon, but the Scottish international easily claimed the ball after the Spaniard stumbled at the vital moment.
Referee Calum Murray found himself a target of the home fans when he failed to give Inverness any one of a succession of fouls.
The 32nd minute saw the game's major flashpoint. A challenge on the touchline involving Bayne and Andrew Webster sparked a mass brawl, which saw Webster sent off and both Liam Keogh of Inverness and Patrick Kisnorbo of Hearts booked.
Seconds before the interval, the home side had one of their best chances of the game. A superb Tokely cross found Bayne, but his header low and hard was equalled by Gordon.
John Robertson made two half-time changes, bringing off both Pereira and ex-Caley striker Dennis Wyness and replacing them Michael Stewart and Graeme Weir.
Ten-man Hearts were finding it difficult to find a way out of their own half and were looking the less likely to open the scoring. However Caley were dealt a cruel blow in the 61st minute when substitute Weir was brought down in the area by keeper Mark Brown and the referee pointed to the spot. Paul Hartley stepped up and sent Brown the wrong way.
Five minutes later the referee awarded a penalty at the other end after a combination of Kisnorbo and Steve Pressley brought down the onrushing Juanjo. He stepped up himself and coolly slotted the ball home to make it 1-1.
Hearts held on despite pressure from the Caley forwards and the game finished 1-1.
